I have found it quite confusing, especially for translation from french to English. For example, the sentence ' je fais les magasins' seems wrong to me because it would literally mean i do/make the shops. In both cases they make no sense. The sentence that is supposed to mean i go shopping has now turned into i do shops. I tried to understand this, but it doesn't make sense and it is extremely confusing. How does the phrase i do the shops have any relations to actually shopping? Even if shopping appears to be an activity, then why, in the phrase, 'je fais le tennis' wrong as well? It is an activity. So then why would it now have to be 'je fais du tennis'?? that literally means i do of the tennis, which is worse than even 'je fais les magasins'.
