New contract variation with reduced pay after signing

Hey all hopefully a quick question for you all.

So a few weeks ago I signed a contract variation for a promotion (yay), added my signature and sent back to HR (07/05/2026).

Over a week later (18/05/2026) HR has contacted me to say they made a clerical error on the original signed contract variation and the salary I should have is actually $3k less.

Do I have a leg to stand on to not sign this new updated variation as all parties had signed the first contract variation with more pay? And how do I argue it if so?

There is a line in the contract that worries me, “This Variation Letter forms an amendment to your current Employment Agreement. All other terms and conditions will continue to apply unless superseded by any subsequent variation letters to that agreement.” If I don’t agree to the subsequent variation does the original agreement stand?
