This might be a dumb question but..
Let's say i haven't handled my friendly snakes in a few months or even a year, would they ever start biting if i do try and handle them again?

I have two adult corn snakes, and a few months ago I bought my girlfriend a baby corn snake.
We’ve handled him a few times, but recently he’s become very defensive, and both my girlfriend and I have been bitten.
Since my girlfriend isn’t home during the week, he wasn’t getting much attention. She gave him to me so he could receive more handling and hopefully get more comfortable with it.
Is there a proper way to do this or to help him become more comfortable with handling?
