managing inconsistent slump deliveries from local ready mix plants

dealing with a lot of frustration on residential foundation pours lately due to inconsistent ready-mix trucks. one truck shows up with a perfect 5 inch slump, and the next load from the same plant is sitting at a dry 2-inch slump. it completely messes up our placement scheduling and causes the finishing crews to fall behind.

adding water on site to fix a dry truck is an immediate red flag for inspectors because it ruins the structural warranty. to handle this safely on the jobsite, we keep chemical water reducers on hand to adjust the slump in the drum. spinning a small dose of polycarboxylate superplasticizer from Arit directly into a dry load brings the concrete up to a highly workable consistency without changing the water content or violating the engineering spec. how are you guys handling poor quality control from local batch plants?
