BA/Master of Teaching (Secondary) vs BA then Master of Teaching

Hi! I’m a year 12 student in Victoria who is hoping to become a secondary history teacher and i’m trying to decide which university pathway would be better.

I’m currently looking at Deakin University’s Bachelor of Arts/Master of Teaching (Secondary) which is appealing because it’s a fast-paced pathway and means I would spend less time at university.

However, I’m wondering whether I would be better off doing a Bachelor of Arts first and then applying for a Master of Teaching (Secondary) afterwards.

My main concern is whether the combined BA/MTeach provides enough depth in my subject area and teaching methods compared with doing the degrees separately. I also like the idea of having more flexibility during my undergraduate degree before specialising in teaching.

Is there any advantage to doing the BA and MTeach separately, or is the combined degree essentially just a more efficient pathway to becoming a qualified teacher?

Thank you :D
