Shells with and without Mod Podge

Hi there u/shelldreamer0814 and anyone else who might be looking in. Shelldreamer asked a couple of weeks ago if glazing shells with Mod Podge would be a good thing to do. This week, I experimented with some shells in my stash.

Mod Podge comes in different finishes—gloss, matte, satin, glitter, dimensional, etc. I chose Gloss. The first pic is unglazed shells. Then, I tried with diluted MP and a flat, soft nylon paintbrush. One could hardly see the difference, so the last couple of pixx are shells with two coats of undiluted MP, applied with the same brush and allowed to dry between coats.

I should have put the shells on wax paper or foil, rather than sketch paper. But, you can peel off any shreds of paper that stick to the shell.

And there you have it! Shells are from Maryland and North Carolina.

Yesterday, in preparation for surgery on my outer ear canal next month, I had a hearing test done by an Au.D. After the test, she showed me the results, and the topic of tinnitus came up. My condition is causing a certain amount of high-pitched white noise in one ear. (Has been for about eight months now.) She asked me if I use a white noise machine or similar device when I go to sleep, and I replied, "No, my guilty pleasure is Forensic Files. I put that on at about a volume level 3, and go to sleep."

"Perfect!" she exclaimed. "Keep doing that. What it does is causes your brain to focus on the dialogue and take your mind off the ear noise."

So there you have it! For those of us whose lullaby is FF, keep it up! (And don't forget to set a TV timer.)
