Bad batch or bad products?
I’ve been a Timex Ironman watch wearer for about 13 years now. In that time, I believe I’ve owned 4 watches and I usually go with roughly the same type/style. I swear the first watch I had lasted me 5-6 years (but that may be wrong). The second one seemed to last about the same. Unfortunately, I’ve had to buy two in the last couple of months because of the same issue (unsure on the cause/root issue, but it appears to start with moisture getting inside the watch then the backlight slowly goes out.)
With this watch (pictured) the backlight went out in 3 “waves.” Wave 1: small circle of backlight out (~1/16 of screen). Wave 2: bigger section of backlight out (~1/3 of screen) Wave 3: full backlight out).
I don’t submerge it below 10 meters of water and I pretty much only take it off when I go to sleep.
I do occasionally rock climb and boulder and sometimes scrape the watch on wall, but I’m pretty sure I’ve done that (or similar things) in the past and didn’t have any issues.
Since I’m now on my second one (pictured) in the last couple of months, I’m wondering if they maybe had a bad batch of watches or if their product has declined in the last few years.
Anyone that has any insight, advice, etc. would be greatly appreciated!
