I've heard it said that male dogs mature more slowly than females, females are more attached to owners, etc. In others' experiences, does this generally seem accurate? This may be more or less true depending on the breed you own. What other developmental differences have you noticed between your male and female bird dogs?
When looking for a job, how do you screen what businesses are good, and what businesses are being deceptive? Do you have a method to expose red flags?
I currently live in the west where I can get into wild birds on public land within minutes from my house. I have some good job offers in Texas in the DFW and College Station areas that I'm considering. I have 5 shorthairs, and I'd need to run and work them regularly, but I also realize public land is a scarcity in Texas. For those of you who live in states with little public land, how do you find places to work your dogs?
What's the general consensus on registering a name for bird dog pup that comes from an established kennel to another established kennel? I've always used breeding kennels name (with their permission), followed by the dogs call name, followed by the name of the new kennel owner. Do others do it differently?
