Kgl. Bayer. 2. Pionier-Bataillon

Been a little while since I've posted my impression, not much has changed. New bayonet, new canteen and some fun poses. Hopeful for some bigger changes soon.

Question regarding WW1 German Gefreiter/Corporal

It has been a minute since I've really added to my Pionier impression, so I was thinking maybe I should "promote" myself, nothing too crazy like a decorated officer, just somewhere nice in the middle. But anyways, did soldiers of this rank ever carry pistols? I have a nice airsoft Luger + holster that doesn't really get any use and so wonder if I could add this to my kit along with a dienstmütze or "modified" feldmütze (I am unsure what would be the correct name), and of course the proper collar buttons?

Identification and how to make this cap.

I know it's a type of fatigue cap from the early 18th century, but what is it called and how can I make it? In advance, thanks!

Did WW1 German soldiers put their trousers over their boots?

Apologies for the lack of original photos, I searched and couldn't find anything but I know they're out there as I've seen it before. Anyways I know it likely wasn't common as it's in few photos, but when it was done, was it only for photos, was it done only in early war? Just any information about it would be nice.
