Average is not average. Everyone's standards are way too high.
When it comes to dating, a lot of people have this notion of "average" in their heads. Their idea of average is actually NOT average, but significantly above average. The idea of average that people have in their head is somebody who is nondescript, but also somehow immaculate in the sense that they have no faults at all. That is what we think of as average.
But in actuality average is nothing like that. True average are people who do have some faults. This is also why people think that the other gender is mostly undebatable. Because in their heads they are thinking, "why is everyone so below average", (which is mathematically nonsensical).
To put it more bluntly, "average is not perfect" and can never be.
