Thinking about doing keto again, but worried because of high cholesterol and fatty liver

Hi everyone,

I’ve done keto multiple times in the past and it always worked very fast for weight loss.

  • In 2019 I lost 12 kg in about 1 month and 10 days
  • In 2020 I lost 10 kg in 1 month
  • In 2023 I lost 15 kg in around 2 months

Now in 2026, I’m overweight again and thinking about starting keto one more time because it’s the only diet that has consistently worked for me.

But I’m worried because I already have high cholesterol and fatty liver. In the past, whenever I checked my lipid profile during keto, my cholesterol levels were usually high. That’s making me question whether this diet is actually safe for me long term.

After COVID, hearing so much about heart problems and sudden deaths has made me more concerned about my health.

So I wanted to ask:

  • Has anyone here done keto with high cholesterol or fatty liver?
  • Did your numbers improve or get worse over time?
  • Is rapid weight loss from keto risky for the heart or liver?
  • Would continuing keto be dangerous in my situation?

I really want to lose weight and get healthier, but I also don’t want to damage my body in the process.

Would appreciate honest experiences or advice.
