OpenBSD file system layout vs Linux File System Layout confusion

For this Quick Study Guide https://www.barcharts.com/quickstudy-unix-laminated-reference-guide-9781572223974/ for Unix it shows an odd file structure I am having difficulty understanding. This is the part "The Unix File System" where they have a root directory structure

OpenBSD

/ root home, usr, tmp, etc, bin, dev, var, proc FROM usr - lib, bin, local, sbin FROM etc - lpvs FROM dev - dsk FROM var - log, mail, spool, adm, proc

FROM dsk - log, mail, spool, adm, proc

Why is /dev/dsk/log, mail, spool, adm, proc & /var/log, mail, spool, adm, proc

showing what appears to be a shared directory of "log, mail, spool, adm, proc" folders? Or do both /dev/dsk & /var both contain their own versions of "log, mail, spool, adm, proc" folders?

Linux

/ root home, usr, tmp, etc, bin, dev, var, proc, root, opt, sbin FROM usr - bin, lib, sbin, doc, src FROM etc - rc.d, sysconfig FROM var - log, spool, mail

FROM rc.d - init.d FROM sysconfig - network scripts, daemons

Why is Linux's file system different? Why didn't they just stick with the Unix File System Folder Structure?

Lubuntu 24.04.5 Noble won't be supported after April 2027. Should I switch to OpenBSD, another Linux Distro, will I get security updates anymore?

I have Lubuntu 24.04.5 on an older thinkpad. I get Lubuntu updates maybe once every other day. Sometimes twice a day. After this version of Lubuntu is no longer supported, April 2027. What should I do? I assume I won't get any updates at that point. This is an older laptop, Lenovo E550, that may not have enough system resources for the next version of Lubuntu. I maxed out the ram and installed a SSD already. Should I look at OpenBSD running Calm Windows Manager? Slackware?

Description: Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS Release: 24.04 Codename: noble

I want to have a plan but I'm not sure which direction to go. I just read and write watch a youtube video occasionally. No games, no music.
