Posthoumous Promotion
Hello all, so I have a question. My grandfather was a Commander in the Navy in 1981, and tragically passed away because of complications of Agent Orange (he had surgery for a brain tumor and VA hospital botched his surgery, he died shortly after because he got pnemonia). I recently found out about how posthumous promotions are a thing, I belive he was already approved by the selection board, however he died right before he was actually promoted and everything(I think he was literally about to be assigned to a new ship). Would it be worth it to pursue this? I understand that there's nothing that comes with it. I would mainly be doing this for my mom, who was always upset that he wasn't given the rank of captain. Also, if it is worth doing this, what would the steps be for this process?
