Softplastics for Pike

Finally picked up some 4” Mayor swimbaits by Rapala. How do I rig them? I already plan on doing a texas rig, but wondering how well jigheads would work for Pike

Am I understanding lures correctly?

So I’ve been having a decent bit of luck lately using spoons and just casting out wherever, but I also want to start using inline spinners, glidebaits, swimbaits (soft plastic), and crank/jerk baits.

I did a little bit of googling, and came to the following conclusion. Can anyone tell me if its correct or if I’m thinking the right way?

Spoon and inline spinner = Good search baits when first casting to see where the fish are at

Glidebait and jerkbait = Ideal for when fish follow spoons/spinners and don’t commit, jerkbaits better in colder water

Jighead swimbait = Versatile general lure, does a bit of everything. Good to use when nothing else is working (prior to switching spots)

Texas rigged swimbait = Mainly for fishing through structure/weeds

Crankbait = Mostly used when wanting to fish a specific depth

Is this assessment correct?
