Is Trichy’s Teppakkulam laser light and water show really worth ₹8 crore?

Can’t believe they spent ₹8 crore on this. People don’t even seem interested in watching the show. It runs only once in a blue moon, ticket prices are high, seating isn’t comfortable, and the headphones look cheap.

Poor R&D, weak revenue potential, no proper restrooms, and not even a proper feeding room for mothers — all this in a prime location near Rockfort Temple in Trichy.

₹8 Crore Rockfort Teppakulam Laser Show — Huge Waste of Money?

The laser show near Rockfort Temple, Trichy was built with ₹8 crore ( I couldn’t find any proper budget documents. I did check the official budget for the years 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, but I only found a few news articles. ), but the current condition is disappointing.

Shows happen very rarely
High ticket price for poor experience
Uncomfortable seating
Cheap quality headphones
Poor maintenance and weak crowd response

No proper restrooms or mother feeding area in this heart of the city

For such an important tourist spot in Trichy, the planning and upkeep feel very poor. Does anyone else feel this project failed badly?

Note: This picture was taken by me in person. The Teppakkulam is currently under maintenance.

I saw a man digging drainage in his bare hands.

Yesterday, while I was on my way home from the gym, I noticed a man cleaning the drainage with his bare hands. I wasn’t sure if he was genuinely cleaning or if he was simply collecting the gold dust that people often do from the drainage, considering the presence of many goldsmiths in the area. He was also not wearing any uniform. I felt quite sorry for him after seeing this.

I had a pretty bad experience with Cherrinet—frequent network drops and poor range, and even after multiple calls to customer support, nothing really got fixed.

So I started looking at other broadband options and ACT seemed to fit my budget. I reached out, and the person I spoke to claimed he was a team leader handling the ACT Fiber operations in Trichy. Based on that, I decided to move forward.

When it came to payment, I actually refused to pay upfront because I’ve seen cases where installation gets delayed after payment. But surprisingly, the guy went ahead and paid on my behalf.

Later, when I received the customer application form, I noticed that his designation was listed as “Sales Executive,” not team leader like he claimed.

Not sure what to make of this—has anyone else experienced something similar with ACT or other ISPs?
