PSA: for those of you who do not know how to use emergency triangles, please read.

CFR 392.22 explains how to place them for various scenarios. See attached pics.

On the shoulder of the highway is where I see most of you broken down. With that said, the measurements to place triangles from the rear of your vehicle on a divided or 1-way highway are 10’, 100’, and 200’. Not all 3 within 20’ of your trailer.

Somehow, some of don’t understand how to unfold the triangles and set them up correctly. In the last picture is the most common triangle type. See how the weighted base is rotated 90° from the triangle? This keeps them from blowing over. Hope this post helps, stay safe out there!
