Logged into Enlighten today to find an "In order to maximize your settings, we have set your battery to EXPORT TO GRID. . . ." My settings are always Self-Consumption / Do not Export to Grid. I did go into the battery settings and toggle off Export to Grid. What's up with that?
We have a 4th Gen Enphase Solar/Battery solution with 2 10C batteries. On full sun days we export up to 22 kWh daily, and on partly cloudy days, up to 13 kWh. We're in SoCal. It seems that the 3 main advantages of an Enphase charger are 1) dedicated EV charging breaker on Combiner, 2) accurate metrics on EV consumption, and 3) leveraging Enphase technology to use excess solar for EV charging. Regarding item #3: Can't I achieve the same advantage by just charging between maximum sunlight hours of 1pm - 6pm when we start exporting? We commute an average of 25 miles a week, which means we'd only be drawing somewhere around 10kWh a day for EV charging. I can't seem to justify the expense of an Enphase charger for just items #1 and #2. What am I missing?
Please confirm this for me, please. There is a "slimjim" 10CS battery, which is actually 2 separate 5kW batteries with the same width and height as a 10C, but each battery and case is probably half as deep as the combined 10C. But the 10CS must work as a paired set for a 4th Gen system. If you wanted to add on more storage to an existing 4th Gen system, you must use the paired set. You can't add just 5 kW, correct?
I'm going through the installer certification and just finished the first module on the 4th Gen Combiner. When I opened my combiner unit to compare what I'd seen in the video I saw that the Load Control Breaker Module had not been installed. Should I be concerned? I figure that if I needed to shut power to the combiner I'd just shut off the Battery and PV breakers; this is an all Enphase system, so there are no legacy or third-party components connected to the system. Unfortunately, my installer went out of business unexpectedly so I can't direct this question to them. But, other than a few reporting glitches through the app, the system is working as expected.
I've called this problem in at least once, and it doesn't seem to be resolved in spite of the numerous calibrations performed remotely by Technical Support. I've got a Gen 4 system with 2 10 kwh batteries installed in December. I have my battery reserve set at 27% and the battery shutoff set at 7% to allow for the system to restart. So far, no major power outages, but on RARE consecutive overcast days the solar production is barely 10 Kwh per day, ergo there's an obvious battery drain overnight. At least twice now the battery level has been at 23 to 24%. I'm only concerned about this if there is a prolonged evening outage and the battery would continue to drain past the levels I've set. Anyone else encountering this? Other than this, my system is delivering as expected.
