Pairing Balloons with Roller Coasters

I think it’s common knowledge that “no entry signs” can help keep random guests out of the ride exit line.

I put a different balloon color by each ride in my park so that I can tell at a glance which guests have been on each ride.

I’m sure I’m not the first person to think of this, but I thought I’d share it in case someone finds this helpful or interesting.

Banana Bonanza

I recently started a new play through of Trinity Islands. My first custom ride was a mini roller coaster.

One thing I’m trying to do differently this time compared to my earlier play through of this map- to make the coasters really follow the contours of the land.

I’m still trying to think of a name for the red and white looping coaster at the end- suggestions welcome :)

Would a charged battery emit electromagnetic radiation?

Great show, great scene, but my question is how would a disconnected battery with no current flowing produce electromagnetic radiation? I might be misunderstanding, but I thought that emission of EM radiation required a change in electric field or magnetic field, but why would that occur for stored chemical potential energy?

Maybe Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity is real… in the plot of the show, anyway.

Tour of Forest Frontiers

11 years, 13 custom coasters, and 31 handymen later- this play through of Forest Frontiers is complete.

I’m still getting the feel for path layouts and garden theming- advice and tips always appreciated.

There is a custom coaster of every available variety, except for the Virginia Reel. Not sure why, just didn’t feel right for this park.

Going to start a new park soon- not sure what yet!

“Peter Rabbit” Junior Looper: 😃7.15, 😮5.37, 🤢2.75, ⬇️2.90g, ⬆️-1.02g, ↔️1.58, 🎈2.52s

For the last ride in my Forest Frontiers park, I opted for a kiddie coaster.

In the tale of Peter Rabbit, an impulsive bunny regrets stealing vegetables from an understandably angry gardener. Naturally, I built the gardener’s at the beginning of the ride.

For the track work, I attempted to simulate a bunny frantically trying to escape (um, at a speed safe for kids). I also wanted the track to also flow naturally with the elevation of the land. The excitement ended up being pretty all right thanks to ride-ride interactions, path bonuses and scenery.

Enjoy :)

Observation Tower- The Effect of Scenery on Excitement

It is actually amazing how much scenery can boost excitement for the observation tower. In the two images both observation towers are the same height, but the difference in excitement rating is more than 3.

At first, I thought the excitement boost was also about nearby rides. However, in the third picture from paradise pier, it was really hard to add scenery, but I added rides in abundance. The excitement still peaked at 2.89.

After I wrote this post up, I found this video from Marcel. It’s possible to get past 8 excitement with an observation tower! There are some ride and path bonuses too.

Designing “Oxbow”

I always enjoy seeing people share their thought processes behind their designs, so here is mine. A couple of things:

* I started by building the coaster and terraining the river in tandem.

* I added a second coaster to build the station and lift hill. Then, once I figured out how to join them together, I went back and deleted the second coaster piece by piece. This is the first time I’ve actually done this, but it was worth it to make the best use of limited space.

* I added the double loop and built the stand up coaster in tandem.

* It was easy to maximize path interactions because I had built the coaster at two levels above the ground right around the oxbow.

* Scenery gradient consisting of bulrushes and bushes by the water, followed by willows, then birch trees, then oak trees.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading!

Oxbow

😃10.27, 😮9.13, 🤢5.4

I built this looping coaster in Forest Frontiers. My goal was to design a track to contour a custom river.

I originally wanted moving water, but the waterfall scenery item isn’t available in this scenario, so I decided on an oxbow instead.

From a coaster design standpoint, I tried to combine diverse track pieces in ways that flow organically. It took a lot of tries, but in the end I feel it was worth the time.

Enjoy! :)

😃7.78, 😮6.28, 🤢3.18

Just started a replay of Forest Frontiers! Loving it so far.

This coaster is near the park entrance. It’s supposed to be a 48” thrill ride, like 1-2 steps above a kiddie coaster.

It’s a short ride, but it’s got a bit of everything.

Enjoy :)

Sometimes I finish parks, and it’s just nonstop coasters and flat rides as far as the eye can see.

I decided to combine green space with a story. Who knows… maybe this last holdout also buys a season pass and loves roller coasters too.
