Another "I spilled water" post

EDIT: Since the visible water is nearly gone, I'm going to give it a few more days with dehumidifier and just resume and hope for the best. Then if things get weird I can use applecare. But if you have a different suggestion, please let me know.

Hello all,

On May 3rd, a water bottle completely emptied in my bag (kid-related incident) and I didn't notice till I got home. Completely soaked through the water-resistant case that my m4 air was in. I dried it off and it works normally, but it had a visible lake of water behind the display.

Since then, I've had it sitting next to a dehumidifier, with a bunch of strong sodium silica desiccants, and the lake has been shrinking. I expect it will disappear soon. I have not plugged it in at all.

See pics (from May 5 and yesterday).

My question is: If visible water has disappeared, can o resume using it as normal a few days later? Or should I have it serviced with applecare plus (which I got just recently)?

I'm hoping I don't have to get it serviced. I brought it to the local place that's applecare certified (or whatever it's called) and they said best-case scenario is it'll cost $99, which I could I deal with, and to do repair, they'll have to update to MacOS 26, which I really don't want to do.

And he said there's a chance that there's been more damage in which case it would cost like $300 (ouch), of course that'd also require updating the OS.

Thanks for your advice.

Death's head rocking a stahlhelm with the stars and bars tickles the parts of my schizobrain that loves TA / Fourth Reich Archeology / The Empire Never Ended.

But I can't tell what the insignia means:

EDIT: Commenter points out that it looks more like La Bandera del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico than Old Glory. How does that change the read?
