COL question legit

Hi All, I am writing this from New Jersey; I have a nephew apparently moving out there..he moved from NJ to Louisiana...is now an electrician with the IBEW. For reference I'm a 36m married and I have a 7 y/o. I'm following rentals and houses out there and he seems to be under the impression that it's going to be cheap to live out there....

I damn near choked at the house sale and rental prices. $2500-3500 and higher for rentals, mid to high six figures and over a million average for homes. What in the actual fuck?! Why...how....WHY are the prices so god damn high in Nevada?! I honestly expected. $150k-$500k prices, not 3 quarters of a million as the average.

Wtf is out there that demands such high prices? Forgive me for the hysterics but I'm honestly appalled and In shock. He might as well come back to NJ

Here's a question to debate regardless of strong opinions - At what point do the NYC Five families realize that it makes more sense to fully combine their resources (manpower and financial plus networks) into a single NYC region crime family as opposed the longtime competing five family structure they have now? A lot of them have overlapping claims in NYC alone, but also in New England, across NY, NJ, as far south as Florida and as far West as California. The Ndrangheta is increasingly setting up shop in NY as well which will only get stronger at the expense of Cosa Nostra groups.

Would they conceivably do this when their individual families dwindle to 40-75 made members each? Or would they merge before then? Feel free to discuss the pros and cons and even counters as to why they might never? Personally I think they're something of an anomaly in this country compared to the other families that currently exist and also used to exist. By that I mean, every other city that has a major LCN presence are unified under a single organization/family.
