Extreme network congestion/delay after installing 14x Tuya Moes Star Feather switches (SFL02-Z) in Zigbee2MQTT
Hi everyone,
I'm facing a frustrating issue with my Zigbee network and could really use some expert advice.
Recently, I upgraded all the wall switches in my house to the Moes Star Feather Series (Model: SFL02-Z), installing 14 switches in total. Ever since the installation, my entire Zigbee network has become extremely sluggish. Activations are delayed, automations randomly freeze, and the performance is highly intermittent—sometimes it works instantly, but other times it takes up to 10 seconds to respond.
After digging into the Z2M Health dashboard, I discovered massive background traffic. These switches are constantly spamming the network, with some showing as high as 1.35+ messages per second, flooding the gateway non-stop.
To mitigate this, I have already done the following troubleshooting:
Individually added all unused or redundant entities (e.g., vibration_mode, countdown_l1-l4, backlight_mode, indicator_status) to the Filtered attributes list.
Switched some of them to Scene Mode to stop local state loops.
Despite filtering out these bulk payloads, the message frequency from these Tuya chips remains incredibly high, and the airtime congestion persists.
Has anyone encountered this specific issue with the Moes Star Feather series or similar Tuya-based switches? Are there any hidden configuration tweaks in Z2M (or custom quirks) that can completely silence their background chatter without affecting local control?
Any suggestions, workarounds, or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
