I have a 2005 V8 4Runner with the 2UZ-FE and 235,000 miles. I’ve always run either Toyota oil or Mobil 1 full synthetic in it and haven’t had any issues.
I’ve been seeing a lot about Valvoline Restore & Protect and how it can help clean deposits and possibly extend engine life. I’ve also seen some mixed opinions about using it in older or high-mileage engines, mainly because it could clean out deposits and put more stuff into the oil filter.
For those of you with high-mileage 2UZs, do you think it’s actually worth switching to? Or would I be better off just sticking with something like Mobil 1?
I’m mainly just trying to do whatever gives this thing the best chance of making it to 300k+.
