Rental Company is Ghosting Us? Please help!
Hello all! I am not sure this is the right place to be posting, or if I am even doing this correctly so please forgive me, or tell me where I should be posting this. Thank you in advance!!
My fiancé and I are renting a house in the Denver/Denver Metro area, and we are going through a property management company. We have had minimal issues, but the main one is communication, especially when it came to moving in.
We moved in around December of last year, and as it's getting to be spring/summer, we are needing to have our swamp cooler turned on - I contacted the company about this as there was a real hot week in March/April about getting the air turned on, and they told us that we were not allowed to touch the swamp cooler as "it was a liability thing and they would be sending out links in May to have someone come out and turn on the swamp cooler." This is fine, as I understand you usually wait after Mother's Day to do anything like that so nothing freezes. So I emailed them at the beginning of this week, and there was no communication until I emailed again. They said that the HVAC company (or whatever company it is) would be reaching out to us to set up an appointment, and that if they were not to reach out that day, to then ask the property management company again. We did not get an update from the other place, so I have now emailed them 3 times, and called 3 times throughout this week, and they are not picking up their phone or answering emails.
I would not be so upset if they would at least communicate that it wouldn't be happening until next week, or even until the end of the month. I just need an answer of when so I don't go spend $400 on a small air conditioning unit and they come the same day to turn it on. The main reason I am pretty worked up about this is because it has been 80-85 degrees in the house for most of the day, and it doesn't even cool down at night. The only saving grace is that this upcoming week will not be as hot, so we can catch a break from how awful it feels in the house right now, but we would like to get it managed now so that when the heat does kick up again, we won't be sweating and having to leave the house just for some relief.
Is there anything else I can do but just sit and wait? I am worried of getting a huge bill if I go up and do it myself (which I know how to do + I have family in the area who have the same exact unit and know how to turn it on), or sending a different company to work on it and then sending the property management company the bill... I am unsure what to do or if there is anything that can be done. Thank you very much for reading about my problems, and please give us advice!
