One more down, One left to go

Went to my FFL today and picked up a pistol I bought a while ago. French Contract Savage 1907, checks the boxes for French sidearms and made in NY. All thats left now is a Ruby and I will have examples of all French sidearms from WW1 through the First Indochina War.

BUYER BEWARE: Shill Bidding and Faked Guns

Putting this up as a PSA.

There is currently a user on GunBroker by the name of 'ivysunlee' selling various hard to find Chinese Firearms and Accessories as well as a NK SKS.

While watching some of the items last night there were 4 items that sold in 'No Reserve' Auctions that were immediately relisted withing moments of the auctions ending.

Upon further inspection it was found that on all 4 items the same bidder placed bids just as the 15 minute clock was starting knocking the existing bidder out of the running. The bidder was 'jmclcc' and their last feedback was from 2021.

Its should also be noted that the seller is posting fake items with crazy descriptions trying to pass then off as real. These include a "Chinese" M1917 "Sniper" with a commercial scope and mounts made in Texas in the 1950's, and a Chinese Type 17 45 ACP Broomehandle which bears a stamp with the incorrect number of points.

Be wary if bidding on items from this seller.

A little bit of research goes a long way

Saw this one recently on GunBroker and was floored by both the BIN and the final bid. This is a total fantasy piece. The scope that is mounted to it was not produced until the mid-1950's. While it may have been one of the rifles sent to China as aid during WW2 and may have been captured during Korea the story it was a sniper made by the Chinese is 100% fabrication. The scope was definitely added stateside. This is a very expensive lesson for someone to learn about how a small amount of research goes a long way.

The Danger is Palpable

Got this wonderful 5 digit Rock Island 1903 from an estate in North Carolina. It has had one heck of a service life. Produced in 1907, rebarreled in 1944, shipped to Greece Post-WW2 and then back to the US in the late 90's/early 00's. This serial does have 2 hits in the SRS/ARG Database but unfortunately no way to 100% tell if it is this rifle due to shared serials between RIA and Springfield.

One of my latest auction purchases arrived today

Picked up this Berthier M16 Carbine from an Auction in NC. Total price to my door was a whopping 325 dollars. Needs a good cleaning but all the numbers match. Paid off to do a little leg work, as the auction had it listed as no shipping but when I emailed the FFL doing the transfer they were more than happy to ship it.

A very rare pistol

I dont think the live bidding went higher than this absentee pre-bid. The gun was also mismatched.
