10k followers but almost zero engagement now, can this page recover?

Hey guys,

Need some honest advice.

I have a DevOps/IT related Instagram page with around 10k followers, but engagement is almost dead now. Hardly getting story views, posts don’t perform, and feels like even followers don’t see my content anymore.

To be honest, I was very inconsistent for a long time. Mostly posted normal posts/carousels, barely did reels, and sometimes disappeared for weeks/months.

Content is mostly:

  • DevOps
  • cloud/Azure/AWS
  • sysadmin stuff
  • tech career related posts

Now I’m confused whether:

  • the page is dead because of inactivity
  • tech content just performs badly on Instagram now
  • or I completely ignored reels for too long

Has anyone here actually revived an inactive page successfully?

Should I keep this account and start posting reels consistently or just start fresh?

Also what kind of content is working now for tech/IT pages?

Would appreciate real advice from people who’ve gone through this.

Tech Instagram page with 10k followers but no engagement anymore

Hey everyone,

I need some honest advice regarding my Instagram page because I genuinely don’t understand what’s happening with it anymore.

I have around 10k followers, but engagement is almost dead now. Stories barely get views, posts don’t perform, and even my own followers don’t seem to see the content anymore.

The followers are real I never purchased fake followers or bots. Earlier, some of my DevOps/IT-related posts performed well and that’s how most of the audience came. But now the page feels completely inactive.

I should also honestly mention that I haven’t been consistent at all.

I mostly post normal posts/carousels and stories occasionally. I almost never posted reels regularly, and sometimes I disappeared for weeks or months without posting anything. So maybe the page died mainly because of inactivity and not adapting to reels/content trends.

My page/content is mostly around:

  • DevOps
  • cloud and infrastructure
  • Azure / AWS
  • IT support and system administration
  • tech career related content
  • occasional personal/work thoughts

Some possible reasons I’m thinking about:

  • inconsistent posting for long periods
  • not posting reels regularly
  • audience mismatch from older viral posts
  • Instagram algorithm changes
  • weak hooks/retention
  • content confusion between educational + personal posts

Now I’m trying to understand whether I should:

  1. revive the page organically
  2. completely rebrand the content style
  3. start posting reels consistently
  4. hire someone experienced in tech/social media content strategy

Before spending money on an Instagram manager or agency, I wanted real input from people who have actually revived dead pages.

A few questions:

  • Has anyone successfully revived an inactive/dead Instagram page?
  • Can old followers start engaging again if I become consistent?
  • Should I continue on the same account or start fresh?
  • What matters most now for tech pages: reels, hooks, consistency, niche clarity, or collaborations?
  • How long did it take for engagement to return?
  • Should I archive/delete old content or leave it?
  • What type of content works best now for DevOps/IT/tech pages?
  • Is hiring a content strategist/reels expert actually worth it?

Would genuinely appreciate honest feedback from creators, marketers, or people managing tech focused pages.

Thanks 🙏
