Pelikan Edelstein Golden Beryl and Pyrite, side by side

Pelikan Edelstein Golden Beryl and Pyrite, side by side

Wrote using both inks, with the Golden Beryl first, then Pyrite. When Pelikan announced Pyrite, I’ve wondered how different or how similar they’d be. I got my hands on a bottle of Pyrite today, so here we are :)

New Sailor Shikiori inks from the Noyama-No-Uta line

Swatched these four new inks using a Speedball B nib and I’m so happy with how the blending turned out!

The Sailor Shikiori Noyama-No-Uta inks is a collection reminiscent of the chirping of birds echoing deep in the mountains, composed of four colors that match the pens from the same line.

Haru-tsuge-dori (Warbling is in the Air)
A subdued yellow, this color is from the image of a Japanese bush warbler singing in the mountains on a warm, breezy spring day.

Waka-taka (Hawk Apprentice)
A subdued shade of brown with slight traces of red, this color was created from the image of a hawk youngling’s youthful feathers.

Sekirei (Wagtail’s Call)
A shade of warm gray that blends with anything, this color is from the image of an adorable wagtail’s feathers.

Kiji (Pheasant’s Treble)
A very strong blue that sheens to red, this color is from the image of a Japanese pheasant’s crown.

Which ink is your favorite? :)

I got mine today, and it’s a bit hard to take photos of the pen that give it justice, but it comes in a lovely shade of amber that’s striking yet quiet. In photos online, I thought it’d look like the amber from Jurassic Park. Happy to report that it is nowhere near that!

Paired it with Nagasawa Kobe 88 Nagata Pure Gold.
