Should candidates be allowed to record recruiter calls?

Especially when calls involve role details, compensation, timelines, and next steps but can sometimes also cross professional boundaries.

What starts as a normal recruitment call can turn into questions about your personal life or inappropriate comments. In my case, a recruiter told me he “liked my voice.”

And then you’re left thinking: should I have recorded that call?

Are there legal/privacy concerns around candidates recording recruiter calls? And if not, why aren’t candidates encouraged to document these interactions?
