5th Gen Automatic Transmission Questions

Howdy! After years of searching for a mostly stock, not completely ratted out 5th Gen for my next project car, I finally found one near me that I am going to look at on Friday.

And before all of the "just get a manual", or "just do a manual swap" comments come in, listen, I hear you, I agree with you, but the price on this one for its condition is hard to pass up, so I'm at least going to go look at it and hopefully buy it if everything looks right.

The seller mentioned that the transmission is slipping, as these autos apparently tend to do. They said it is fine for a few miles, slips out, and won't re engage first unless you turn the car off and back on.

Not great, but that's enough for me to get it on to a trailer so not a deal breaker yet.

So, my question here from anyone who has experience with these automatics... Where should I start? From the research I have done it seems like drain the fluid, run new fluid for like 30 miles, drain again, and repeat 4 times is the key, at least as a starting point.

Otherwise, maybe replacing the solenoids?

The price is solid enough that if I need to drop a new transmission in it, so be it, but of course I would rather try and salvage the current one if at all possible. What would you guys recommend?
