MVP: PokerRoom

MVP: PokerRoom

The poker room, a place new players may associate with the recent Underworld map (1.3) but that existed as stand-alone for the longest time (0.12). For a single room, it's really pretty. As you'd expect of a "demons runs a casino" themed location, most things are gold and red.

At the center is the reception desk, to join the minigame (choose between casual or private tables). Then are a few tables where you can see the players seated at (a good way to know if you're gonna wait a lot in matchmaking or not), a stage on opoosite side of the room, and various bar-themed wait areas.

Thematically one of the more adult sides of Holoearth for sure, betwen the gambling and succubi NPCs. Nothing lewd tho, just what you'd expect of any RPG in a similar setting.

Minigame Point of view

As for the gambling itself, no real money is involved but more surprisingly no game currency either. You are simply given 20k chips, then kicked off the table if you reach zero. No reward or chip-shop before you leave the instance either, it's just a minigame for recreational purposes. The rules are automated, so it is beginner friendly. Again, no stakes and no pressure.

Quite a few arrivals ended up here, with talents and their fans playing together!
In fact, some talents were regulars way before their official arrival, using a normal-player avatar instead of their own model. It was hard to catch these "undercover" visits, but they were very memorable moments.

A table full of players

Of course, if you played against a streamer before voice mirroring was introduced it was recommanded to minimize their tab as to not see their hand but still being able to hear them. Voice-chat in general makes things more fun!
( I won't forgive Ollie for calling me horse names, tho... TwT )

Jokes aside, it's fun if you're into these kind of games but some players strictly refuses to play gambling games even if there's no stakes and the "chips" are just your lifepoints, not money. There were talks about adding more minigames, especially Mahjong, but those were more community rumors than anything...

It would been nice if non-gambling minigames were added (probably in the Underworld's game center, to differentiate them from Jaberwock's casino themed ones?)
One thing for sure, players always wanted more minigames to have more activities to do in Holoearth.

It was not rare to tag a role themed after this place in the fan-discord, just to ask if the regulars are up to a game or two.
( Hopefully these didn't end in everyone going all-in all the time...Right? <w< )

So, what's your stories about this place?
Managed to make it big before you got bored enough to leave?
Got any group photos on the stage from the arrivals?

MVP: MyRoom

"My room" is a personal sandbox just like MyShop, putting the crafting mechanics of SimRoom into a safe environment where you don't need to fight. On paper, it's a good compromise to make a public instance without risk of your SimRoom getting griefed.

However, it didn't used to be as stripped down as it is nowdays.
You used to be able to starve. Some may notice there's no water source, so it transformed the "casual safe sandbox" into a desperate rush to level 15 to unlock the well (then an insane grind to craft it!) unless you lived off berries, apples and crafting drinks!

Most of the main ressources are on the border of the map (rocks, trees, food) and you can use the Protectcube to summon more, using the free coupons you can claim everyday. Especially meat, since you can't obtain it by hunting here.

There's other small differences compared to Sim-Room to accomodate for the lack of combat and a few other mechanics. As already mentionned, the well allows you "to place a water source" anywhere. Peppers have a chance to spawn "glowing gold" which indicate they're Flame peppers (meanwhile, in SimRoom you don't know in advance before harvesting) and Honey "grows on trees" in the form of beehives (normal bees confirmed?).

It is the last place visited during Arrivals, often decorated in advance by staff and trustworthy pathfinders invited into it. A perfect place for safe shenanigans, and building a throne/altar for the talent to pose at the center of final group photos!

https://preview.redd.it/ufdjq7v5xq2h1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=40bb9704679103b3a30f12f150bdf696501d9041

For some weird reason, this mode never stuck with me.
Mostly because the big tree and ressources placement made it difficult to build something of the shape I wanted without compromising on spawned ressources?
It is not the "SimRoom but less" aspect that bothered me, that's for sure.
The experience was just too lonely to justify finishing to build here. (Kinda wish we could transfer food consumable from MyRoom to MyShop even if only for flavor usage)

I remember seeing streams of people making PvP arenas (throwable items do affect other players, making them fall off platforms) and other more successful hang-out places. Many instances looked impressive, especially after the introduction of the colored building blocks (someone converted their into a whole beach and sea area!)

Truely, a game-mode more successful to groups of players than lone wolves.

So, what does your room look like? Did you reach lvl20 here? Did friends visit often or were you the one visiting someone else's room to partake in silly activities? I'm sure people have way more memories to tell about MyRoom than myself.

MVP: My Shop

"My shop" is a small sandbox map for vendors to have a physical place to show their products on manequins and sticker pedestals. Somehow avaiable even to non-vendors so the community used them as hang-out places in general.

MyShop maps are theorized as being located "somewhere in Alternative city" (the town whose style makes most sense comparing those with) which also explain why they are treated as "my appartment" by non-vendors.

A very underrated part of the game, because you need to go to players profiles to access most of them. (which not everyone have the reflex to check, even when browsing the marketplace menu)
If they were as easely searchable as public sim-rooms, this could probably be the most popular part of the game (besides Focal square and concerts) acting as an equivalent to VRchat "home" worlds.

Renart's cafe

As I was not a vendor, mine is a cafe, complete with a center bar and the mini acrylics of the talents to decorate tables (one gen per group of table).
Often the starting place to introduce VRchat friends to Holoearth, so they have something modern to look at, which resonate more with them than the constructions in My/Sim rooms.

Unfortunately, MyShop was removed early during EoS announcement so all that's left of mine is this early outside pic, from before I unlocked the acrylics.
No visiting those during the farewell events is very unfortunate...

I heard some users went crazy in designing their shop and the best maps are in this category, so what does yours lookk like?

MVP: Celestial/Beach arena

An amphitheater with a big screen in the background, and an invisible barrier preventing the audience to jump on the stage. Used for meet&greet and whatch-alongs.

Sorry for the consise and cold description, it's just that the place had so much more potential that what it was used for, it's a bit hard for me to look at it in hinsight. A few free concerts happened without being displayed when they could been good opportunities for the fandoms to get together, and other events got paywalled (like when the "beach" map variation first appeared, changing the tone of Arrivals in a way that made waves) in unexpected ways.

I will not expand on the rant, after all we're here to share our memories, and considering most arrivals went throught this place I'm sure you guys have a lot of cool moments to share!

The one I remember the most is FuwaMoco's arrival (which happened on its own, way before Advent's full-gen arrival) and to this day, players still take care of Mococo's sim-room. Keeping the instance public maybe was an afterthought for them, but accidentally a very influential moment for many players, Ruffians and others alike, who met there and became friends throught the hours spent helping each others.

So, what memories do you have of this place? What events and watch-alongs did you witness for yourself? And more importantly, did you manage to meet your Oshi?

MVP: Underworld Geo

One of the most recent additions (1.3) leading to one of the oldest maps, the poker room (0.12) and quite interesting beyond its current scope. Underworld is the place where demons and aliens both resides.
Aliens?! Yes, read the place's descriptions, a spaceship was mentioned.

( Just imagine warping to a planet and misplacing your re-entry portal not close to the surface, not underground enough to be crushed, but right into a giant cave already hosting a whole metropolis! What kind of cartoon logic is that?! xD )

In any case, the place is WAY bigger than what Holoearth shows.
Jabberwork ressort is only one district of the cryptid-filled city. As mentionned before, a spaceship seems to be located somewhere, and people talked about an academy. Who knows what else is hiding in there?
There's probably a lot more people who follows Alternative can tell us about.

Current explorable area have a few points of interest:

( UG and Gothic fashion combined, by the fountain )

The clothes shop, which I suspect the old "Gothic" set originated from (maybe sent to Altermode as a bridge, to see if enough interest in UG fashion sparks) but similarities are too close to not think the same person designed both sets of clothes.

The fountain. If you wait enough will give you a whole show to go along with fireworks

"Chesire cat's game center". Nothing there at the moment, but it's cool to think more minigames were probably planned to be added. (there are also an opera house and movie theater, concert watch-alongs would be pretty nice if they happened over there)

"The Hat theater", which is where a certain concert happened.
Seems closed between events, unfortunately?

And finally, the Poker room situated in Jabberwock ressort itself. I am not sure if it should be grouped with Geo or be its own post (since it existed for so long, there's probably a lot of memories to be gathered there), what do you guys think?

So, what kind of memories did you make in the UG?

MVP: Kyo-no-Miyako

Another region with pathfinder stories that date back way before I was made aware of Holoearth's existence (1.0) and will require other pathfinders to share their memories, to get the full extend of how important this place is.

As for what I know, this is where a Protolive took place "back when pathfinders were only triangles" which means their data was so sparse they barely existed in this world. I wonder if the locals would mistake them for spirits, back then...

<proof picture of the triangle phenomenon would go here?>

The location itself is a long path to the temple, with all sorts of shops and streets to the side, with always in sight a giant tree that seems to be growing around a giant crystal. The place is gorgeous, especially during new year festivities, which is when its existence resonated enough to appear back to us recentely.

Many people gathered during new year festivities

Weirdly enough, the place sometimes exists as "daytime" and other times at "night-time". (which doesn't sound that weird until you realise there is no cycle) Current form seems to be trapped into showing one specific moment, rather than an "everyday"...Like a memory capsule.

I suppose another thing that may weird out new visitors may be the abundance of...Wolves and Foxes in the streets? No, not kemonomimi ones, they look exactly like the ones we fought in the Sim-room except...They talk?

You can imagine my surprise, but apparently it is normal for the Ayakashi people. Some wolf was talking about wanting to ascend to...godhood? It is unclear if the process is a linear metamorphosis (Animal -> Furry -> Kemonomimi -> Kami (what godhood even means in this context?)) or if they're just regular shapeshifters, who revert to an animal form when they are tired or simply relaxed enough to not care about the tourist's gaze.

In any case, it's still a place worth visiting during these final days, especially since the Protolive concert video is playing sometimes. It's not much, but still a good look into this place's recent history. (I also heard of a minigame but older pathfinders will have to give details, as it was only avaiable in the earlier iterations of the map)

*While not being there often, I have fond memories of that place (even bumped into the project lead once, not knowing they were more than just staff) so it is sad to see the project reaching EoS...*I'm sure many of you also have precious memories in here, please share them with everyone if you can.

MVP: Walled city of Vesta

Vesta, one of the most recent additions, and the location I am the least familiar with.
People who follows the ALT mangas and games would be more knowledgable about it, but unfortunately, I'm just an old-timer listening to songs and watching clips and MVs.

The place is pretty small, that was surprising.
Not much memory data seems to be gathered?
I wonder why, when some works are literally named after the place...
As stated by the tourism office, current visitable area is a popular tourist spot.
Not much to do there aside of taking pictures with friends.
(Also cafes, but no interaction? I'm so hungry now... TwT)

As for the locals, I am not really surprised after what I saw visiting the shrine of that other town, during new year...But still, I wasn't really expecting more than kemonomimi in Holoearth, somehow. Guess that even after all this time, I'm still an outsider learning new details and customs every visit. ^^"

<Insert photo here>

Unfortunately, no picture of that place on my side.
We'll have to rely on other pathfinders to preserve this place's memories.
All I remember is how many did AFK near the hints of a certain riddle, without even need to talk to understand the assignment. Soon, there were people sitting at benches, taking a bath in the fountain, etc.
That was a really silly, yet heartwarming moment.
Thanks for being so helpful, everyone!

So, was there any noteworthy moments on your side? Pretty pictures taken?

MVP: Alternate city

Alternate city, the everchanging. There are three points of interest there: HoloShop (official merch), Altermode (clothes) and AltBeautys (avatar edits). Well, technically five since HoloearthTV's newsroom is visible from the street, and the main plaza itself changes depending on announced events.

For EoS, lots of concept art are shown. But whenever a concert was announced (not just for Holoearth but also IRL lives) the whole place would change, hosting photo booths and banners!
Unfortunately I'm...Not a picture person, so others will have to share their memories to prove it, else just take my word for it?

But that area isn't just for show, it's also where everyone would hang out for arrivals of the talents.
At first, we didn't had mirroring AND talents didn't have the permission to bypass user limit. Crazy, right?!

So many people! (oh yeah, avatar culling near the talents wasn't a thing either... xD)

On another topic...
The city is so eerie without the cars and locals walking around. I guess the bridge is starting to fade already...There also were sighings of two small flying objects travelling at high speeds, like if they are looking for something, or someone? I wonder where they come from...

MVP: Focal square

As it is now the social hub everyone AFK in-I mean, pose for group pictures at, I suppose this is only fair to start with this place for new players to feel at home. Feel free to share your stories, silly shenanigans and pictures regarding Focal square, here!

(Just a normal day when you have QA-related habits... xD)

Of course, if you want to discuss the history of the map and how it evolved over time as well, go ahead.

Memory Virtualization Project (introduction)

In an attempt to log memory data more efficiently, and show the world this place wasn't an empty wasteland but populated with pathfinders interacting on a daily basis, a special comittee of preservation was founded. (not really)

The comitee will therefore finalise recording this foreign "simulated world" that appeared in our reality, helping one last time the entity known as Mithra to establish a proof of existence and maybe, if the stars allign...Maximize the chances of contact to be restored in a far future.

The goal in a shorter term?
Organizing farewell events and making posts to preserve the precious memories made in Holoearth. Expect more when I'm done writing said posts, as I'll be the messenger as usual.

(All of this is unofficial of course,
just players trying to have fun one last time before EoS. Every participations in sharing pictures and stories are appreciated. Thanks again for everyone to have given the game a chance)

Now then, If anyone have questions, or ideas for said events (brainstorming still in session) go ahead! What would you want to do during this last month in Holoearth?
Visiting everyone's sim room?
Scooret races?
Group photos?
What else comes to mind?

Petition for the return of MyShop maps

While the removing of "marketplace" is understandable, a lot of even non-vendors used their map in creative ways. Since the game is reaching EoS it only make sense for the community to want to host events like visiting each others places one last time, including these maps.

Can we please have them back?

I know it's more work since it needs removing the interactions from the manequin and store-related furniture but it's if it is possible...Please let the community make as much final memories while they can
