What type of ant
In Houston heights area, a ton (120+) of these guys showed up in a room of my house. In a new build just moved in zero history of issues or signs of any sort of bug issues. I’m lookin for some different opinions. To my knowledge they’re Texas carpenter ants, but everything that Ive read and been told they don’t seem to be behaving like Texas carpenter ants. Not a wing on a single one some small some a pretty good size. 2 fairly large clumps one large clump probably 60+ ants together in that clump. We had a preemptive quarterly treatment for ants, roaches, spiders, etc about two months ago. That being said the ones that come in contact with the corners of the floor are quite lethargic, stumbling around, but other one’s coming from the windowsills and other areas are alive well. I’m not sure if there’s an infestation or if this is a freak deal where they came over from an oak tree 15 feet or so from the house that has some tips of small branches touching my roof (A bridge essentially ) from the house in a swarm. Spoke to an exterminator and their activity had him scratching for his head as well. Any insight would be lovely. Thanks!
