Wanted to post an update on this build. I finally received the dial and all parts this past week and have been wearing it for a few days now. I have to say, I really like it. I also built one for a friend who has been on the fence about buying a Doxa Sub300 for a while but actually liked my Yugofied design better.
I think it really fits the vibe I was trying to capture - vintage Doxa built under license by a fictional Yugoslavian watch maker.
I am wearing it on a navy blue sail cloth Zuludiver strap which I feel really helps bring out the orange as blue and orange are complimentary colors. I also think that the stainless steel sunburst dial makes it look like a slab of metal and really fits the socmod/brutalist/industrial design I was going for.
I think the next step on this design is to find a way to differentiate it further from Doxa. I was thinking about using a smaller namokimods 39mm turtle case and making a custom Vostok inspired bezel.
I received a lot of feedback on this the first time I posted the original renderings so I would love to get everybody’s thoughts.
