Good wooliness, ideas?

I've been chasing a certain "good wooliness" to a processed kick sound. Not sure how to get it. Not even sure how to describe it to be honest. If I compared it to to reference material I'd say listen to "Sound Awake" by Karnivool. Steve Judd's kick sound is just so perfectly punchy, present and warm, but not muddy.

I know this is some combo of comp and saturation but does anyone know what specifics to go after here? Anyone happen to know the signal chain Forrester Savell used on this record?

Noise?

I've made a similar post in the past but thought I'd try again.

Every piece of Darkglass tech I have has a particular high frequency whine, it is constant. My Kiesel 5 string with Darkglass preamp, my Alpha Omega, and now my Anagram, all have this resonant frequency at 1191 Hz (fundamental) and 2382 Hz.

I can route just the noise floor of the Anagram and the Alpha Omega and get the exact same thing, so it is not the source.

I plug my Spector bass in and it is dead silent.

What is up with the Darkglass electronic noise?

I can't be the only one, right?
