Immigration adjustment to US citizen
I am married to an illegal immigrant, who came here illegally but turned themselves in to immigration to seek asylum. Their asylum case was closed in 2023 and the deportation case was dismissed and no removal orders were given.
We spoke to a lawyer and they had talked about doing a parole in place to shorten the processes up. The lawyer had asked if I had any prior service and technically I do, I just never finished boot camp and was discharged on a medical basis. The lawyer said as long as it was dishonorable discharge it doesn’t matter that boot camp wasn’t finished.
The lawyer said they were going to ask around since our case is more unique than others. If we could do parole in place the lawyer said it would take 2 years rather than the 4-5 years for the standard process. She would also not have to go to her home country when it was done.
Does anyone know if we have a shot at being able to do parole in place rather than the traditional process or is it more likely that we will have to do the standard process? The lawyer said that it will be a lot harder through the standard process right now, because of what Clinton did to immigration in the 90’s. Any incite would be great.
