Not something we get to see every day
This 1808 $2.50 Capped Bust Quarter Eagle just came through our vault, graded PCGS AU55.
The Capped Bust design used on the 1808 Quarter Eagle was produced for just this single year, with only 2,710 coins struck. Afterward, Quarter Eagle production stopped entirely until 1821.
More than 200 years later, it’s a remarkable piece of early U.S. coinage to see firsthand.
For the early U.S. gold collectors here: what stands out to you about this example?
