Why Play the Vanilla Levels?

Whenever I'm asked what is my favorite level or see discussions about levels in the worlds I honestly have no opinion, I can only think of types of levels that I have an opinion on (like the Mummy Memory minigame, Coconut Minigame, Not Ok Corral, Sun Bomb) but it's mostly with how I experience them and most of them happen to be Inzanity

I've been thinking about replaying RFL's main campaign and I kind of wonder to myself, why not skip the vanilla levels? I'm not familiar with PvZ2 Vanilla (and seeing it's current state I really don't want to bother with it) as most of my experience with PvZ2 is with mods, and I kind of think to myself what reason is there to play the vanilla levels in this mod? You get the option to skip vanilla levels but the thing is that I can't remember many vanilla levels besides the minigames I mentioned, one with an endangered spring bean, the one with endangered Citrons (or Starfruits) you gotta wait for Mecha footballs to push (although it might be an expansion level), that Bowling Bulb level where you get swarmed with too much shit, the one with endangered Guacodiles, the one with a planting and sun limit where the whole lawn gets flooded, the one with endangered potato mines you gotta prevent surfer zombies from reaching, the one that has banana launchers (idk if they are pre-planted or if they are endangered), the one where you get a full lawn of plants but they are frozen and you only get hot potato (there multiple of these levels in the expansion too tho), the conveyor that spams lava guava and plant food, the one that has the punk zombies push your sunflowers, the NMT one with a flowerline that had a meme video where it cuts to a tutorial on how to beat it with bonk choy, another one with a flower line where you only get primal wallnuts and cold snapdragons and the flowerline one in modern day that can be easily beaten with spikeweeds

Other than that I can't really recall any more levels from Vanilla, most of my memories come from like gimmicks and zombies being annoying, I guess that replaying the vanilla levels in RFL is a different experience seeing as they buffed and nerfed some plants like Spore-Shroom and you could beat the expansions to use plants you'd normally wouldn't in vanilla levels

So is Snowball Berry gonna be an insta like Chilly Pepper or just a better version of Water Chestnut Bros

For anyone not knowing what Water Chestnut Bros do I recommend looking at Flag Zombie's PvZ2 China analysis (mostly this video), Water Chestnut Bros are from the Chinese version and have an attack that pierces the lane and chills all the zombies but it chilling while piercing the zombies is RNG dependent and the ice trail they create is only behind the first attack which stops whenever it hits a zombie so the ice trail is very situational and overall useless

Oh and Snowball Berry here is one of the 5 plant OC winners that will get added in the game and it's supposed to have an attack that chills the entire lane

Also yes I know it's called Snowberry Baller but I just don't like the word "Baller"

Other than that I can't wait to use a piercing attacker that spreads chill, it's probably gonna cost more than Laser Bean seeing as an empowered Shadow Peashooter costs 375 sun (400 if you use noctrine) but it's still better than Cold Snapdragon and Iceweed or the Winter Melon that costs 650 sun or the Missile Toe who deals no damage (there's also Begonia but she's inconsistent with the status and the pierce is limited to 4 zombies), it's gonna be great with Missile Toast and Wasabi Whip (or Primal Peashooter + Torchwood if you really want that king von damage), but it is kind of disappointing my favorite PvZ2:C plant probably won't get added but it's okay they don't have to add every Chinese plant and they probably won't (still hoping for Alarm Explosive Arrowhead and Gramophone Datura who probably won't get added since another winning plant in that contest does something similar to it who I think looks stupid but sounds interesting gameplay wise, I do like the bag pipe gourd and ink shroom designs tho)

Wtf are we supposed to do against these guys in Survival?

For anyone wondering it was recently teased that survival mode would be added (the survival mode from PvZ1 where you keep your lawn which is very different from Endless Zones, as in Endless Zones you need to start fresh every level, which is randomly generated), Assuming it isn't exclusive to the Pool lawn and every zombie could spawn I'd imagine that all the zombies I just posted would be impossible to deal with in dense amounts all at once unless you have infinite resources and the reflexes of a cat (and even then it's still a stretch cuz of mechanics like invincibility)

There is no plant in the game that can outdamage all of those zombies at mass quantities without plant food, even power-ups can't do it.

So you must be thinking, why not play it defensively? Here's the thing, You CAN'T. The moment Zombotanies like The Zucchini and Hazel Witch enter the screen your defenses are gone, doesn't help that they can be protected by Glitter Zombies, Arbiter-X, Berserkers/Chair Racers and Royal Princess/Stationary Zombies that have invincibility upon entering (these last two are very detrimental if you aren't using anything with piercing damage), you probably also think not having any walls and just having lots of fodder plants like a Zen Garden Boosted Potato Chip which just spreads all over the lawn would be good which to be fair does counter lobbing Zombotanies, Hair Metal Gargs and Witch Hazel Zombotany. Unfortunately the Zucchini's projectiles ignore Potato Chips due to them being low plants, so no Walls will be staying on the lawn, doesn't help that you have Berserkers ramming through the chips along with Consultants and Invincible Breakdancers pushing them further with other tanky zombies to trigger their destruction, while zombies like fisherman could pull the peashooters to a further tile where they will probably get destroyed instantly, leaving attackers exposed to great zucchini/witch hazel zombotanies and other projectiles that one shot them, oh and not only that you are very likely to have 15 invincible garg primes lasering your first 3 columns and 15 commandos blasting your first column to the point no pumpkin will protect them, there's also gargimps that deal a lot of damage and if the imp density in PvZ1 made pumpkins unviable without ladders, I'm sure gargimps will.

I tried thinking what could work and really the only thing I could come up with isn't something that can be achieved without cheating, you'll need a lot of power tiles which means a lot of sun and that means a lot of stalling and plant food, you'd preferably need to put all the tiles next to each other so the plant food activates asap, you'd also need one tile to act as an activation point for all the other plants so they can be synced, for attackers I think one column of Laser Bean and another of Fire Peashooter (for the chief hailstorm winds) with both supported by pyre Vine for additional damage, now a part of me wonders if the fire peas should be placed in the first column so they could melt the ice (which they should as the continuous rapid damage they deal can be good against zombies that are finished heing protected from invincibility) but if that's the case then this means the activation tile should be in the second column, and I think it's the safest column seeing as there aren't any zombies Landing there besides fan imps which I have planned for, the activation tile will be in the middle lane and it's plant will be Shrinking Violet, in it's adjacent lanes will be four poison shrooms (the entire column is also supported by pyre vine), column three is where the laser beans are at, Coconut Cannon and Citron would could be good alternatives if it wasn't for the fact their attacks get absorbed by stationary zombies' entrance animations, now for the fourth column you'll need a plant that can get hit with projectiles and has a plant food that gives them longer invincibility so something like nightshade or red stinger should work, I also thought about a fifth column of Iceweeds (without Pyre-Vine) so that any zombie thrown into the lawn by consultants and breakdancers gets sent back but I'm unsure about it.

Now unfortunately even with that setup, I don't think having infinite plant food and frame perfect reflexes would help seeing as you'll also need the potato chips as fodder for witch hazel zombotanies and some plants take time to activate their plant food, just enough for Berserkers to steamroll those potato chips along with zombies getting thrown by consultants/breakdancers + bassist ambushes and cheshire imps, I'd like it if someone could test this cuz I don't feel like getting into ELM and idk how to add more zombies and vines on initial plants and the whole wave point thing confuses me.

Now to address more points:

- Survival isn't going to be endless

Seems pretty pointless as it's most notorious for being endless, especially at the pool. And what would be the point in it if they just have Survival for Modern Pool? I also think that in the showcase it showed it goes up to 47 waves.

- They can put a limit on each single zombie's density (for example there can only be up to x amount of Garg Primes)

I'm unsure if they will add that, if it's endless then I don't think there is a point in not having many zombies.

- They can give Plants modifiers to make them stronger exclusively for Survival

That's just making whole new plants at this point, although I'd personally like it I doubt they could put it in the game as it would be a lot of work to give plants different mechanics

- Just reload for a level without these zombies

Unironically the best way to keep a high score, but there is also accounting for portals which can spawn everywhere on the lawn and can spawn any zombie

- There will probably be survival modes with only a selected few zombies that could spawn like in Inzanity

Very likely what's gonna happen, Idk how they would do Pirate Seas however seeing as that world relies on it's lawn layouts but they could always just make it so every lane is a walkable plank.

In conclusion, I don't think high records of Survival in PvZ2 would be anywhere as possible as in PvZ1 even if you cheat (assuming all the zombies in the game are present, if it's exclusive for a world it would be very possible for pirate seas and lost city), you just needed Pumpkins with Ladders, Cob Cannon + Coffee Bean timing and memorizing Doom-Shroom craters. And that's not even counting for Dinosaurs and the fact Grid Items can just blow your shit smooth off the lawn when spawning.
