With the new leaks of Pitch Black (Abyss Eye), the likely case has been confirmed. Mega Excadrill did not receive an SIR, this marks the 3rd Metal type Mega evolution not get one.

Pitch black’s release will be the third expansion released with Metal as the ONLY type to not have a Mega SIR since Eelektross in Ascended Heroes.

Since the beginning of the Mega evolution block, there have been 37 (41 with PB) SIR Pokemon cards (not including Trainer cards).
