Sewage smell basically everywhere except living room
Hi there!
We bought a fully renovated house 6 months ago, from a contractor. Unfortunately, there were a LOT of issues and we've taken legal action. This is still ongoing so nothing was fixed or compensated by them yet but I'd like to tackle some things already since I have a newborn of 3 weeks.
One of the issues is a sewage smell everywhere. It's coming from the drains, from the overflow hole, all holes that are connected to the sewer. It's not just when it rains heavily, it's all the time except in the living room (thank God). I'm no doctor but I cannot imagine that smell does a baby good, nor us adults.
I had a handy friend come check it out, he said to hold up a lighter to a drain to check for airflow. There was, and a lot of it. Later I read that sewer gas can combust, whoops.
Is there anything I can do myself to tackle this or at least put a bandaid in it until he (hopefully) is forced to fix this? The smell is also coming from the bathtub and the shower so places I can't really get under.
Thanks in advance!
