Anyone also likes Ci Ni and Cheng Bei Ling short reels? The clips can be found on TikTok or Bilibili. The short clips are often slice of life of the two MCs and are quite sweet. Once in a while there will be product placement but that just shows the popularity of this clips. One of my Favorite clip

Recently the production has a new series about two step sisters call Xiao Ruan Just Wants a Peaceful Life which is quite funny.

I love 先做后爱 stories and here are a list of them that I had read or am reading. Story usually starts with a one night stand (419) or a fling. If you enjoy this genre of stories and have recommendation of your own, welcome to add on to this list. Some do not have translation but you can MTL it from respective publishers (link provided)

1. 你我相爱,为民除害 by 清汤涮香菜 (Our Love a Public Service: one of the classic for Sleep First, Love Later genre. This is an enemies to sleep buddies to lovers story. MC had a huge sexuality crisis and kept insisting she was straight while continue sleeping with FL.

2. ⁠一目余生 by 秦寺: MC had a ONS with FL, left right after the act, only to find out that FL is her superior in her new company. Funny story between the two characters but also have heavy topics of workplace sexual harassment

3. ⁠总有老师要请家长 by 璟梧 (There Are Always Teachers Who Want To Ask Out Parents): another more popular 先do后爱 story. MC picked up FL in a lesbian club and had a ONS. Next day, MC found out FL is her student’s mother and her new neighbor. This story is a little frustrating to read due to FL struggle with her life and identity. But all in all still a good read.

4. 请嗑我和总监的cp by 一只花夹子 (Please Ship Me and the Director): MC was dumped by her ex-gf cos ex wants to marry the guy in her arranged marriage. FL was the girl dumped by the guy in the arranged marriage. FL decided to meet MC out of curiosity and she joined MC in a tour group and had a 7 days fling. After the tour ended, they thought they would not meet again only to realise their companies have collaborated in a work project and they need to work together. Didn’t finish this novel despite interesting premise cos I find the way this author writes a little dry. Will finish this one day.

5. 夏日失控谎言 by 秦淮洲 (Uncontrollable Summer Lies): MC and FL met in a tranquil town for a summer fling, both lying to each other about their purpose of being in this town. When lies were expose, FL left without a word leaving MC devastated. MC decided to become FL’s colleague to find her. Reading this novel now and loving it. Has great pacing and interesting storyline.

6. 她给的实在太多了 by 胡33 (She Gives Too Much): a lighthearted novel about a MC who is still studying in Uni and loves to do part time, got to know the FL who is the CEO of a conglomerate when she went to become the maid of the FL. Smitten by FL looks, MC seduced her and they slept together. Later, FL offered to pay for MC as a canary (kept woman). MC wanted to refuse but didn’t when FL offered her a monthly allowance that is too much (thus the title). A lighthearted novel to read and chillax. I haven’t finish reading this and usually read this as a palate cleanser after I read other heavier themed novels.

7. 逢春 by 三毛儿: MC and FL were classmates in high school of a small town. FL was well to do and a top student and MC was a poor girl from the country side. MC had serious inferiority complex when facing FL. During their high school reunion dinner many years later, FL got drunk and MC and FL slept together. FL warned MC to never talk about this incident again. I didn’t finish this as there were some heavy themes that I don’t really enjoy but many readers from Weibo recommend this.

I came across The Consequences of Provoking a Crazy Beauty on Fanjiao as a new audio drama that started in June. The trailer is very interesting and after listening to the audio drama, it’s an excellent production with two talented voice actress (Tao Dian and Du Mingya). Chemistry between the two voice actress are through the roof and the way the story is presented is very funny.

Synopsis of Story: Gu Si Yu is a scammer hired by Huo Jun Xian’s scummy ex-husband to scam Huo Jun Xian’s money and asset. Gu Si Yu’s task is to move into Huo Jun Xian house and search & steal items in her safe deposit in her room, and if necessary, seduce Huo Jun Xian so that ex-husband can get discriminating evidence to blackmail Huo Jun Xian. To Gu Si Yu, Huo Jun Xian is this meek, gentle and naive housewife who only stays at home with her poodle. Gu Si Yu finds great pleasure teasing her. She kept telling herself that she will sleep with her once, scam some money and run. What Gu Si Yu did not expect is that underneath the meek and naive facade, Huo Jun Xian is actually a possessive lunatic and there is no escaping her clutches.

Interesting characters: I really like Gu Si Yu’s character. She had a rough childhood which forced her to become tough and by her teenage years, had dropped out of school, became a young thug getting into fights and the wrong side of the law. She was straightforward, used a lot of vulgarities but was a loyal friend with strong sense of (her own) justice. A total contrast with Huo Jun Xian who grew up in a rich family and pampered by her parents. Beginning of the story, it seems like Gu Si Yu is the crazy one that couldn’t help provoking and seducing Huo Jun Xian, in actual fact, Huo Jun Xian is the real crazy beauty in the novel’s title. Oh and the poodle plays a big part in the story. I would safely say the poodle is an important and interesting character in the story as well

Thoughts after reading the novel: Honestly, I love the story very much. Very refreshing. First half of the story, the two characters are just making use of each other and it’s hard to tell if they truly like each other for most part of the story. Gu Si Yu is a very well written character and despite a lot of contradicting actions that she did, you can kind of understand her motivation behind what she did. As the story unfolds, so does her back story and you can’t help falling in love with her. Also, Huo Jun Xian… what a crazy character. She equates love to possessiveness yet does it in a way I don’t find her disgusting?? This is a story about a scammer and a lunatic, both have no idea what love is, trying to find their own ways to love each other but in the process kept hurting each other. Yet they enjoy that hurt, they are drawn to each other, almost like a drug that they cannot quit.

The Chinese title of this novel is call 《招惹疯美人的下场》. For those that understand Chinese can listen to the audio drama on Fanjiao. The production team did a great job with this story and there are currently 5 episodes, with a total of 17 episodes, single season. First 3 episodes are free. As always, Tao Dian is great in portraying Gu Si Yu, lots of funny moments, Du Mingya voice is very suitable for Huo Jun Xian, meek and gentle with a subtle hint of craziness. Lots of raunchy scenes even at the beginning. So far, each episode is 50 minutes long so I find it really value for money. Trigger warning: stalking and some BDSM play involved (since it’s a story about crazy beauty). Highly recommended!



Saw this new audio drama on Fanjiao and seems pretty interesting. The novel has a rating of 9.7 on JJWXC

MC & FL met in a small town in summer and had a summer fling. MC said she’s a poor student and FL said she’s a divorcee, traveling to recover from her failed marriage. In the end, FL left without a word, leaving money and a note that says “let’s not contact each other again”.

Later, MC joined the school that FL is working at as a teacher and they met again, both realised they have lied to each other. MC was not a poor student and FL had never been married

In my search for voice actress with low, magnetic voice on Fanjiao, I come across 黑芝烧 and this audio drama, 《喂，我们闪婚吧》。Original novel name is 《重生后和前任白月光闪婚了》 by 今轲.

It has 12 main episodes and 6 special episodes. Main episodes story is quite average but what stood out is the number of songs this AD has. As the story follows Xiao He who is a singer, in most episodes, there will be songs by the voice actresses (黑芝烧 and 龟娘), some in unplugged version. There are a total of 6 songs for this AD and all are fantastic. I particularly like the song 《画中》 as second half of the song is in English which I think 黑芝烧 sang really nicely.

What stood out the most are the special side episodes, particularly stories of the side characters in side episode 3-5 and the concert episode in side episode 6 (which is also the funniest episode of the whole series). Singer for many Baihe AD, ZIMA 芝麻酱was also a special guest and sang in side episode 6 so it’s quite a nice surprise.

If you like music and have Fanjiao, highly recommend this audio drama.

Sadly, I can’t find the translated version for this novel and there’s no translation for audio drama.
