Any experience with The Movement Arc, or becoming an Expressive Arts Counsellor/Educator (REACE)? I want to legitimize/upskill my 1:1 offerings that I’m building in a non-clinical environment. I am located in Canada.

I want to go deeper into facilitating creative photography sessions for clients, but I can’t shake the feeling that I don’t have the scientific/clinical background to back up the simple tools I use to guide people to their creativity.

I DON’T want to cause harm to future clients and would never say I’m ‘trauma-informed’ because truly that is the work of a therapist, and not something I offer.

I also DON’T want a scammy coaching certification.

Back story: This would be in a creative/photography environment where I do 1:1 movement/photography/maybe journalling sessions outdoors for professionals wanting to reconnect with their creativity.

I am a dance teacher with 3 years experience teaching for an adult dance company (focused on empowerment & self expression) & running beginner contemporary classes on my own. I have 4 dance certifications however they are often 30 hr weekend trainings (Mobility, Yoga outreach, Conscious dance/Embodiment).

Other things to note: I am a portrait photographer of 3 years, and work FT for a global photography brand in operations. I went to an arts secondary school for dance, have a BA in Human Rights, people feel very comfortable around me, and I LOVE making people feel seen/being a mirror. I am a constant learner, reading a lot of non-fiction ‘the body meets the score’ etc.

Main question - what trainings/path would you reccommend for a creative gal who wants to support clients in non-clinical way?

Is my need to do another certification/training imposter syndrome, or a real concern for what I’m doing?

I have considered the ISMETA route with the Movement Arc.

Another option is eventually becoming an ‘Expressive Arts Consultant/Educator’ (REACE) through IEATA.

I’d love suggestions before investing $6000-10,000 CAD. All thoughts are welcome, thank you!
