There’s genuinely no way I’m asking this in a serious subreddit so your all now victims of my ignorance but why are non-European countries like Israel and Australia even allowed to be apart of Eurovision?

Is it because of the European descendants living in said countries? But with that logic why is South Africa and (more importantly) THE GLORIOUS NORTH AMERICAN COUNTRIES 🇨🇦🇲🇽🇺🇸 not allowed?
