Major or Minor in Environmental Sciences for College?
Hi everyone, I hope you all are doing well this weekend.
My name is Blu, I am an AS-T in Business Administration at Chabot College, looking to transfer to UCSC for the Technology and Information Management major. I'm writing this post in regards to career exploration towards the environmental sciences, something that I've been thinking about as of late. I've realized that I needed to pursue something with meaning in my career, but have been caught in a dilemma involving expectations and information from all sorts of individuals.
From what I can gather, the main general consensus is to do something lucrative for your career, and then do what is meaningful on the side, which is still loosely connected to your career. Based on this, I'm planning to minor in either Sustainability Studies or Earth Sciences when I do get into UCSC.
But I've been really thinking about how important meaning is within your career, and in turn your life in general, and I'm honestly scared that maybe just having a 'good career' alone isn't all that is said to be.
Thus, should I still learn the skills I need in order to succeed in life, and find the meaning later? Or should I fully consider switching out of my ideal career path towards something more meaningful? I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear from you soon.
