Ye's Japanese Name
The story goes all the way back to 2007 when he released the iconic "Can't Tell Me Nothing" mixtape. In the album cover, his name is printed in Japanese "蟹江 西" and below his former name in English, "Kanye West."
Likewise, his name consists of two words in Japanese, "蟹江" which is pronounced "Kani-e" and "西" as "Nishi/Westo"
蟹:Crab 江:Bay, Inlet, Large river 西:West
It's nice to see him connect with different countries in his early career. If you're interested, check out "I Still Love H.E.R." with Japanese supergroup Teriyaki Boyz
