What is the logical next step?
Hey peeps
Long time lurker and TA because of possible identification. (You never know)
In my mid 20's I got a tech degree but I never actually had the chance to put it to use as I got a good opportunity at a small company as a head of projectmanagers.
The role itself was quite technical and I brougth the technical skills from my apprenticeship, which I did in my early days.
This was my first job, where I had leadership responsibility.
Back then, we were around 15ish people at the company. And within just a few months, the head of the company left and I got asked by the owner, if I wanted to take up the role.
He was quite happy with what I have been doing these early months and nobody else really qualified for the role anyways. We agreed that, while I didn' necessairly had any experience, I'd try my hands on it.
Now, 4 years later, we are close to 50 people, have more than doubled our revenue and I am now leading a company that is well known in the market and I am also very well connected in this space.
I managed to create myself a very good network, managed to pull some big deals to land, having important clients and suppliers relationships (not just with deciders, but also their bosses, CEOs, etc.
During this time, 70% of my work was sales. Connecting with people and putting our product out there.
Being in my early 30's now, I am seeking advice on what the next steps would be.
I am still not a shareholder of the company.
I am holding back because I know, to push myself and really see where I can get, I have to leave at some point and move up the corporate ladder.
While there are opportunities, I don't know, what I should seek out for.
I still feel quite young (compared to other guys in corporate life) for certain positions and most likely need some sort of degree in economics.
Obviously I live a comfortable live now with a solid income and I feel like, I am getting more and more in a comfort zone, where it will be harder to leave.
Any feedback is welcome and looking forward to your tougths.
