Hello! My partner has had this cactus for about a year, cut from a much larger plant. Today, I noticed what appears to be some rot forming above a tan spot. I dug down a bit, and it appears to only be above the tan spot, not below it.

My guess is that since the tan spot was at the soil line, it was in contact with too much moisture. If I keep the tan spot above the soil line, is the rest of the plant going to be okay, since it appears localized to this edge? My hope is that it will just scar along that edge.

I can take better photos in the morning. It's usually near the window of our sunniest room.
