Now, I just wanted to share a recent improvement of my Lupus (skin, joints and liver involvement). I know there has been several posts about NAC here.
My doc gave me an ultimatum about my fluctuating liver values (ranging from 50 to 300 at worse). The only thing that put them down in the past was cortisone. Had bad results on my previous blood draw. He said that if it's not fluctuating down in the next two month, I'll likely have to take daily low amount of cortisone because my current treatment (Cellcept + Plaquenil) is not doing the job well enough.
Well, after taking NAC 1200mg per day for now a month and a half, and not changing anything lifestyle wise, my liver values went down from 260ish to 55 just like that ! Could be coincidental, could be just another Lupus stunt althought it's been years it wasn't that low, but I credit the NAC for that. It's worth mentionning I'm also taking up to 5g a day of Glycine and 3000UI vit D but those alone didnt do much in the past. Glycine and NAC being precusors of glutathion, something notably low in us exhausted people 😄
Both of them are quite cheap, with very low to no side effects. I feel that rheumatologists (at least here in Europe) are not really aware. So if you're looking for good lupus supplements, I would recommend these two with your docs!
I dont have any brands to recommend, actually consumed different ones from "sport nutrition shops" and Amazon.
