I recently had a plumber replace a few toilet valves and this is what he did. Original valve was connected to copper with solder. I have another valve that needs replacing and I'm trying to decide if I can do it myself. I have never seen this kind of setup. It appears to be a brass fitting connected to the copper pipe at the wall, then PVC? I'm trying to figure out how the fitting is connected to the copper, it doesn't look like he had enough space to sweat it, but maybe he did?
