Wondering if I'm alone in this situation or not. I have my controller plugged into the supplied cable and plug(brick) and plugged into an outlet. After my cook is done, i turn the controller off. later I come out to check on the smoker to make sure its cooled down and get things cleaned up and what not and notice the controller is on. I think hmmm i thought i turned that off and turned it off. The next day I go back out to the barn to leave for work and notice the controller is powered on again. I think that seems odd and I unplug the brick from the outlet and turn the controller off. A couple days later i realize the controller is back on again. This time its just running on battery power because its not plugged into a power source. i then unplug the cable from the controller and turn it off and that seems to have stopped the controller from turning itself on.
is this normal? It doesn't make sense to me. Why would this be made to turn itself on all the time? If i leave it plugged in so the battery doesn't die, its just wasting electricity. If i leave it unplugged it will eventually drain the battery and die causing me to have to charge it a bit first before i can use it so my only option would be to unplug the cable from the controller every time. I emailed their customer support about this and they have told me this is normal and how it is supposed to operate and questioned why i would unplug it from an outlet. is everyones fireboards just stay powered on 24/7?
