Car Valeting withholding Deposit - England
Hello,
I found a car valeting service on a local Facebook group.
Contacted the gent via WhatsApp, booked in a date and he asked for a deposit via bank transfer, which I'll try to post in comments.
He could not make the booked date as he was ill, we agreed a new date, which he could not make as his jet wash pump needed replacing.
I sent some more dates I'd be avaliable and his reply didn't send and he ended up not coming to those dates - a month has now passed since I sent the deposit.
I ask for my deposit back and he says the terms and conditions means he doesnt have to.
I argue that he didnt direct me to any terms when he asked for the deposit.
I tell him I'm just trying to support a local business and get my car cleaned, when can he actually turn up and clean it - we book a new date, last Thursday via phone call, where he says if he doesnt turn up he'll give me my money back (yeah wish this had been written down).
He doesnt make Thursday as his mums house is burgled the night before and tries to arrange a new date. I'm out of the country during the suggested date and ask for him to return the money when he gets a moment - still hasn't happened.
