Apparently a young man told my daughter about Jesus dying “for our sins” and being resurrected on Easter.

My friend has an amazing Easter tradition of playing an elaborate adult Easter hunt. (Like adult level hiding spots not adult themed) The eggs are hidden in the woods usually fairly tough spots then you shoot one another with foam tipped arrows if you get shot you have yo give up an egg. If you get shot without an egg you’re out of the game. It’s a blast.

This year my 5 year old was old enough to help hide eggs. She was walking around with a couple. Adults but younger than me. The man asked her if she knew what Easter was about then told her about jebus.

I personally was not told about jesus’s relationship to Easter till I was a full on adult. I was given a capitalistic version with some paganism sprinkled in for flavor. I had planned to give my kids basically the same. I was taking aback that someone would randomly indoctrinate my daughter at such a fun unchurchy Easter event.

My response to her was more off the cuff than i would have liked but… I essentially told her the holiday is older than the story of Jesus. That the holiday is about fertility, which we use bunnies, eggs, to represent because bunnies have lots of babies and eggs are where baby birds come from. That the reason we celebrate it is to celebrate life returning after winter. I said the story of Jesus was made up because men are afraid of women’s power to create life. That it was just another way men have tried to steal women’s power.

I was a bit worked up at the time so I might have been a bit harsh about it. I would have liked to shared this story with more compassion and excitement but honestly I don’t know all that much about the original holiday and I was sorta just paraphrasing what I thought it was about. Anyone have a better explanation I could give her?

What would you say to this guy? Nothing something?

My husband (33) pointed it out the other day. I am worried. I asked if his eyes adjust in the dark and say they do. That he can see in the dark after a few minutes. He had been in the dark for about 30 minutes maybe a bit longer the other night I had him come out and I checked to see if they had changed and nothing. The pupils aren’t tiny pinholes but smaller than mine generally rest at, quite small.

Doctor Google has given all sorts of troubling reasons but should I be worried?! Should he see an optometrist or a neurologist? Where should we start?
