Exploring a Move

Myself and my husband are considering leaving San Antonio Texas and Denver has been calling us. This is a year and half at least away as we like to move before my daughter goes into 5th (she is in third right now) We are tired of not being able to enjoy the outdoors year round without melting. I’m from San Antonio and he is from Houston, and each summer just feels more and more like a trap.
We make about $180k gross a year so our lifestyle in San Antonio has been great. I anticipate use being over $200k by the time we move.
We have a 8 year daughter who is very social and plays soccer. She is also in a gifted and talented program that she loves, so more suburban feeling neighborhood with kids out playing, schools with lots of programs (she loves choir), and something where we can get what we need nearby are some top priorities.
Both our jobs have offices in downtown Denver, but right now we commune an hour each way here in San Antonio. Reducing that be great, but we also work remote a few days a week so it’s fine. The light rail would be great to use as we love public transport when we travel out of Texas.
I say our budget for a home is maybe $450k (might need to go up to $550k) and we don’t need much (3 bedroom and 2 full bathroom in the minimum and works well for our family). Is that even realistic? We are also open to rent or consider townhomes (just want a garage)
I have a good friend that moved from Houston to castle rock and they love it. They have green space behind their house and I LOVE the idea of that.
We definitely are comfortable in the suburbs but open to more urban if there are great public schools as I think private will be out of reach.
Thank you so much for this sub! I have looked at a lot of posts but maybe we are being too low with our home price.

Pending vet visit tomorrow, this little girl will be ours

This little girl came to our front porch, shy but very hungry. We were able to get her in a kennel with a tube and she has been living in a large cat condo cage as we wait for the vet visit Sunday.
Thankfully my mom is our vet, but she works a limited schedule. She has pretty bad diarrhea but we will get a full understanding of why.
She has really come out of her shell and is a very affectionate cat. Loves pets and cuddles.
My daughter had been begging for a cat for years now. This one chose us.

Update-
This girl is 4 and was chipped with owner information. They have yet to respond but our suspicion is they dumped/abandoned her as she is about 2 pounds underweight (she is 6 pound and should be about 8). I have yet to find any post on any social media site, have anyone respond that they own her, not even a post on the mailbox looking for her. We have to wait 10 days for the owner to respond before we can change her chip to us and she can be officially ours.
I’m in San Antonio and a lot of people treat pets like garbage here. Our neighborhood has quite a few rentals and the owners address was an apartment decently far. We think they moved out and just left her. It’s hard that we won’t ever know her complete story but we hope we can give her the life she deserves.
We have been calling her Poppy but her listed name was Nala.
